Chubb Charitable Foundation to support three young people

The Chubb Charitable Foundation Bermuda has selected three young people it will support in its 26th year.

Alexis Lodge, who attended Bermuda High School before completing the two-year Saltus Graduate Programme, has been selected as the 2022 Robert Clements Scholar.

Maya Peart receives the Bermuda College Education Award and Amber Furtado receives the Bursary Award.

Lodge will study economics at Queen’s University starting this fall. The fully funded Robert Clements four-year scholarship is open to Bermudians studying for an undergraduate or graduate degree in insurance, risk management, actuarial science or other disciplines related to the insurance industry including accounting, law and economics.

Lori Dunstan, executive director, Chubb Charitable Foundation — Bermuda, said: “We are honoured to name Alexis as our 2022 recipient of the Robert Clements Scholarship. Alexis is a brilliant student and athlete, but more importantly, is a young woman with a strong sense of social awareness.”

Peart, who won the Bermuda College Education Award, is an incoming first-year student at HAN University of Applied Sciences in Arnhem, the Netherlands, where she will be pursuing a bachelor’s course in communication studies.

Samantha Froud, chief administration officer, Chubb Bermuda Operations, and a member of the Bermuda College Education Award selection committee, said: “Maya is a great student, and we are assured that she will continue to excel in her academic career.”

Furtado, who won the two-year academic Bursary Award, will be attending Acadia University this fall, pursuing her bachelor of business administration degree.
