AXIS pledges $1m to COVID-19 relief efforts

AXIS Capital Holdings has made $1 million in targeted philanthropic donations to support COVID-19 relief and community support efforts.

Half the funds will be allocated to organisations focused on global COVID-19 relief, while the other half will be targeted at areas in which AXIS operates, such as Bermuda, the US, Europe and the Middle East.

The donations are an extension of the AXIS corporate citizenship strategy, which focuses on initiatives that build resilience and sustainable value.

Albert Benchimol, president and CEO of AXIS, described COVID-19 as an unprecedented challenge, and said AXIS is committed to assisting local communities as they get to grips with it. “Nearly every one of us has been touched in some way by COVID-19,” he said. “This is a time that we must come together as an industry, as companies, and as individuals to support the relief and recovery efforts and help create a sustainable future.”
