Acrisure Re integrates capital and captives arm; appoints Seth Denson to lead
Acrisure Re, the reinsurance arm of global broker Acrisure, has integrated its Capital and Captives division into a single platform, with Seth Denson (pictured), head of Acrisure Re Capital and Captives.
Denson will Report to Simon Hedley, global chief executive officer of Acrisure Re, as the firm strengthens its alternative risk solutions offering across reinsurance, corporate advisory and captive insurance.
The reorganisation brings more than 275 captive specialists across North America and Bermuda into Acrisure Re Capital and Captives, combining its captive business with its specialist reinsurance broking capabilities. The division will be led by Seth Denson (pictured), head of captives, reporting to Simon Hedley, global chief executive officer of Acrisure Re.
The integration forms part of a broader three-pillar structure comprising reinsurance, corporate advisory through Acrisure Re Corporate Advisory and Solutions (ARCAS), and capital and captives. The platform is supported by the group’s analytics and catastrophe modelling capabilities.
Acrisure Re said the capital and captives business has scale in both the US life and health and property and casualty segments, with around 70% of activity focused on life and health, particularly alternative and self-insured medical plans. The remaining 30% sits within property and casualty, which the group plans to expand.
Within property and casualty, the business will focus on group and single-parent captive structures, reinsurance placements and captive origination, alongside partnerships with issuing carriers to support end-to-end captive programmes.
The platform also includes segregated cell capabilities designed to support flexible capital structures across both life and health and property and casualty clients.
Hedley said: “Capital and Captives is already a highly successful business, particularly in L&H, where it has built a leading position in one of the most dynamic growth segments in the U.S. Bringing it into Acrisure Re creates something highly compelling: the platform, relationships, and reinsurance capabilities of Acrisure Re, combined with deep captive expertise and a proven track record. In P&C, we see a significant runway ahead, both in growing our captive programs and in creating meaningful flow for our reinsurance trading partners. Seth is the right leader to drive this next chapter, and I am confident in the strength of the team we have assembled around him.”
Denson added: “We are entering this integration from a position of strength. Our Life & Health captive business is already a proven leader, not by replicating existing market solutions, but by addressing needs the market has historically overlooked. That level of insight and innovation, combined with the capabilities of Acrisure Re, positions us to scale even further.
“In the Property & Casualty market, the opportunity is substantial. As we have done in Life & Health, we will take a proactive approach to creating new opportunities, strengthening relationships with key issuing carriers, and developing tailored insurance solutions across both group and single-parent captive structures. Our segregated cell infrastructure adds a level of flexibility that differentiates us in how we design and deliver solutions.
“As part of Acrisure Re, we are fully equipped to build and scale a market-leading platform.”
