West Grove Re appoints former RGA leader Anthony Young as CEO

Bermuda-based reinsurance sidecar West Grove Re has appointed Anthony Young as chief executive officer, bringing in the former Reinsurance Group of America (RGA) executive to lead the newly launched business.

Young (pictured) joins following eight years at Reinsurance Group of America (RGA), most recently as chief valuation officer and managing actuary, based in Bermuda. Prior to RGA, Young held roles at PartnerRe and Munich Re Canada.

The launch of West Grove Re was announced in August 2026, backed by $1 billion in capital, including equity commitments from parent company Talcott Financial Group, investment from Goldman Sachs Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) and its clients, and a credit facility.

The sidecar was established through Talcott’s open architecture asset management model and partnership approach, enabled by Sixth Street. Talcott will provide support services including actuarial, finance, compliance and risk management, while Goldman Sachs AWM will act as investment manager for the sidecar’s private asset strategies. Other third-party investment managers are expected to oversee the remainder of West Grove Re’s assets.

Announcing his new position on LinkedIn, Young said: “I look forward to working with the Board, our investors and partners to build the business and excited for the work ahead.”
