PartnerRe names Andrew Laing as head of capital management as Hughes exits

Bermuda-headquartered PartnerRe has promoted portfolio manager Andrew Laing (pictured) to be its next head of capital management, replacing Andrew Hughes who is leaving. 

Longstanding PartnerRe portfolio manager Andrew Laing has been named head of capital management, effective October 1, 2025. 

Philippe Meyenhofer, CEO, said: “Andrew Laing has been a key contributor to our capital management team, bringing deep technical expertise, strong collaboration, and 17 years of experience across PartnerRe. I'm confident he will continue to drive the growth and success of this important part of our business.”

Hughes, announcing his departure and return to Edinburgh, Scotland, on LinkedIn, commented that: “I […] am very pleased to be able to hand over the reins to my colleague, Andrew Laing, who, together with the broader team, will continue to do a fantastic job for our investor partners.”

Meyehofer went on to say: “I would also like to thank Andrew Hughes for his leadership and dedication over the years and wish him the very best.”
