WiRe appoints Peta White as chair

Peta White has been appointed chair of the board of Women in Reinsurance (WiRe), the organisation for professional women employed in the Bermuda reinsurance sector.

She succeeds Kathleen Reardon, CEO of Hamilton Re, who has been chair since 2014 and remain a director.

White is co-head of global reinsurance operations and head of North America property reinsurance at Markel Global Reinsurance. Prior to 2013 she was head of international property, having joined the company via Max Re in 2006.

Kathleen Reardon has been Board Chair of WiRe since 2014.

Reardon noted White’s active service on the board since 2017, describing her as “a recognised leader in the Bermuda reinsurance space.”

White promised WiRe will continue to provide its members with growth opportunities through networking, mentoring and professional development activities. “Our goals include implementing a formal mentoring programme and collaborating with other inclusive organisations in Bermuda to offer networking and training events that will appeal to women at all stages of their reinsurance careers,” she said.

WiRe was formed in 2008 by a group of senior professional women in the reinsurance industry to encourage the development and promotion of women within the marketplace.
