Monument Re acquires Cattolica Life

Monument Re has acquired Cattolica Life DAC, an Irish life insurer, from Cattolica Assicurazioni, the Italian insurer listed on the Milan Stock Exchange.

Cattolica Life ceased new activity in 2017. Monument Re stressed that the transaction does not affect existing Cattolica Life DAC clients and policyholders.

Monument Re’s strategy is to assume asset based risks within its risk appetite and efficiently operate these businesses or portfolios. It has a presence in Bermuda, Ireland, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Guernsey and branches in Spain, Italy, France and Germany.

Change of control of the company will follow satisfaction of customary closing conditions, including receipt of regulatory approvals.
