Hiscox Re taps RGA for IT head

Hiscox Re & ILS have appointed Reinsurance Group of America information technology executive Ryan Barker as its new chief technology officer.

Bermuda-based Hiscox said Barker will join on October 2 and will be responsible for driving all aspects of the business’ technology strategy. Based in London, he will become a member of the Hiscox Re & ILS leadership team and will report to Kathleen Reardon, chief executive officer of Hiscox Re & ILS.

Barker was previously at Reinsurance Group of America, where as head of information technology for EMEA he has delivered significant technology change programmes over several years.

Reardon said: “Technology is foundational for our business success and therefore it is a key priority for us. I am thrilled to have Ryan join Hiscox Re & ILS, where his extensive experience in technology leadership will enhance our existing technology team.”

Barker added: “I am excited to be joining the technology team at Hiscox Re & ILS and I am looking forward to working with the organisation as they deliver on the business’ vision of being one team, unlocking capital, embracing risk.”
