Former Butterfield Bank chair joins Hamilton board
Former Butterfield Bank chairman Barclay Simmons has joined Hamilton Insurance Group’s board of directors.
Simmons, a lawyer and former investment banker at Goldman Sachs, was formerly managing partner of ASW Law.
Hamilton chairman David Brown said: "Our board of directors is delighted to have Barclay join us as a director. His wealth of experience in leadership roles across several international organisations complements the depth of our existing highly skilled Directors."
"I am pleased to extend a warm welcome to Barclay to the Hamilton board of directors," said executive officer Pina Albo. "His strong business acumen and diverse range of legal, investment and advisory skills bring great strength to our business, and we look forward to his leadership and contributions."
In June, Reuters news agency reported that Hamilton was considering strategic options, including an initial public offering or a private sale.
Simmons is chair and chief executive officer at advisory firm Rose Investment and Chair of the Bermuda Public Funds Investment Committee with responsibility for advising on the investment of Bermuda’s pension funds.
He is a member of the boards of private equity investor Petershill Partners and Bermuda domestic insurer Argus Group Holdings.
