Fidelis appoints new deputy director of underwriting

Bermuda-based Fidelis Insurance has appointed Louise Jarvis as deputy director of underwriting.

Based in the UK, will support the group director of underwriting Charles Mathias to ensure underwriting excellence “through capture and use of data, superior systems, process and reporting”, the insurer said.

Jarvis joined Fidelis as senior wordings specialist in 2017 and was promoted to group head of contract wordings in 2019 and will continue in that role alongside her new responsibilities.

Before joining Fidelis, Jarvis was a reinsurance contracts wording specialist with Hiscox for nine years, and before that was head of contract wordings with Swiss Re. She has also held positions with Denis M Glayton & Co, The London Processing Centre and Orion Insurance Company.

Matthias welcomed the new appointment: “Louise has done a great job in building a contract wordings team that really adds value to our underwriting process. We’re delighted that she will now bring her rigour and common sense to bear on a wider range of issues as we continue to build market-leading underwriting processes and systems.”
