EY promotes within its Bermuda captives unit

EY in Bermuda has promoted Umer Islam, Bermuda executive director at EY, to lead its captive insurance unit on the island.

Umer Islam, Bermuda executive director at EY, has been given the reins of its Captive Insurance Practice. Islam has more than 14 years of experience providing assurance and advisory services to insurance and reinsurance clients in London and Bermuda.

Islam has extensive knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, Solvency II and various other insurance regulatory regimes. He is also a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Bermuda, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, the Association of Chartered Certified Accounts and Chartered Insurance Institute in the UK.

“We are very excited to have Umer assume the role of EY Bermuda Captive Insurance Leader as we continue to grow this part of our practice, along with our Global Captive Platform,” said David Brown, EY Bermuda senior partner.

“Umer has a proven track record of exceptional quality service to our captive clients and we look forward to him expanding our offerings in this important area.”
