BILTIR promotes Bermuda's value to global life re/insurance industry

Executives from Bermuda’s long term re/insurance association met with US state insurance commissioners this week as they continued to emphasise the value of Bermuda to the life and annuity re/insurance industry.

Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers executive director Christine Patton and executive advisor Curtis Dickinson attended the fall national meeting of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners in Orlando Florida.

At the meeting, they met with state insurance commissioners, their staffs and BILTIR members as part of the association’s ongoing initiative to discuss the value of the Bermuda market to leaders within the life re/insurance industry.

Dickinson said: “BILTIR’s attendance at these important industry gatherings reflect our commitment to constructively engaging insurance regulators and sharing how valuable the Bermuda market is to the international life re/insurance and annuity industry.

“BILTIR members were also able to meet with the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) at the Meeting to engage on Bermuda- impacted regulatory topics.”

BILTIR represents 56 life re/insurers and 21 associate members in Bermuda that provide life and annuity products and employ more than 1,000 people on the island.

NAIC is discussing several initiatives to regulate the life insurance industry.
