BILTIR makes a series of changes to its board

Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers (BILTIR) has made a number of changes to its board of directors.

Sylvia Oliveira, a current board member, has been named as chair. Oliveira is chair and chief executive of Wilton Re Bermuda, and chief risk officer of Wilton Re Group, and has more than 25 years’ experience in the re/insurance industry.  She is also a board member of the Association of Bermuda International Companies (ABIC).

Thomas Olunloyo, the chief executive of Legal & General Reinsurance and a current BILTIR board member, has been appointed as vice chair of the BILTIR board. Olunloyo was formerly chief actuary and chief investment officer of L&G Re, and is also a board member of ABIC.

Frank ‘Chip’ Gillis has been appointed to the advisory role of director emeritus.Gillis was one of the founder members of BILTIR in 2011 and was a co-founder of Athene Holding. He is also a board member of ABIC, and of Bermuda College.

Ronnie Klein, executive director at BILTIR, said: “[BILTIR] has grown in size, prominence and effectiveness since it was founded in 2011.  These appointments will facilitate BILTIR’s strong commitment to provide real value to its membership and to Bermuda."

BILTIR represents 65 long-term insurance, reinsurance and servicing companies in Bermuda who provide life and annuity products and employ 725 people on the island.
