MGA Helix expands into professional lines
The Bermuda-based multi-line MGA Helix has appointed Matt Irvine of AXA XL as chief underwriting officer for professional lines.
Irvine has more than 30 years of underwriting experience in both London and Bermuda. He spent 13 years at AXA XL, leading the insurer’s Bermuda professional lines business. Under his leadership, the platform will underwrite a portfolio of professional liability products.
Helix has broadened its specialist portfolio with the introduction of a new professional lines program.
The new program is backed by Somers Re and offers a maximum line limit of $10 million.
The professional lines offering include directors’ & officers’ liability, errors & omissions, employment practices liability, wage & hour, transactional liability and cyber covers.
Nigel Mortimer, managing partner at Helix, said: “Professional lines have always been on our radar. The Bermuda insurance market has three pillars: excess property, excess casualty and excess professional lines. The launch of our new professional lines portfolio is the third critical pillar needed for Helix to better serve its clients and brokers comprehensively.”
