Everest maven Jill Beggs scales the ladder, fostered by Munich Re roots

Bermuda-based specialty re/insurer Everest Group has tapped Jill Beggs (pictured) for the role of executive vice president and CEO of reinsurance, leveraging her deep Munich Re roots to lead its global reinsurance business, part of an ongoing leadership refresh aimed at repositioning the group for profitable growth.
The appointment comes on the heels of  a series of senior management changes across the business, starting with the exit of Juan Andrade and appointment of Jim Williamson as new group CEO earlier this year, who has since launched a sweeping overhaul, including “aggressively shedding underperforming accounts”, restructuring policy offerings and altering underwriting guidelines.
Beggs has 30 years of risk management experience, including her most recent role as Everest reinsurance EVP and chief operating officer. She rejoined Everest in 2021. Prior to that, Beggs held senior leadership roles for over two decades at Munich Re, where she led US treaty and facultative reinsurance programmes across multiple lines of business and also spearheaded the company’s innovation incubator and E&S insurance start-up.
Everest praised Beggs for advancing its global reinsurance strategy, and driving significant growth across the division’s North America, international, global facultative, global specialty, and Mt. Logan Capital Management businesses.
Williamson, Everest president and CEO, said: “With Jill’s expertise and collaborative approach, Everest has delivered exceptional risk-adjusted returns and value to clients in an increasingly challenging risk environment. I look forward to working with Jill to drive the next chapter of the business’s strategic growth and innovation.”
Beggs said: “I am honoured to lead Everest’s reinsurance division, building on our history of excellence and global market-leading position. Our team’s broad capabilities and client-first approach have positioned us well for the future, as we focus on delivering sustained value to our clients, shareholders, and partners.”
