The Association of Bermuda International Companies (ABIC) has announced the appointment of Christian Dunleavy, Aspen Group President and CEO, Aspen Bermuda, as its new chair, succeeding Patrick Tannock.
Dunleavy said: “I am honoured to chair ABIC at such an important time for Bermuda’s international business sector. The ABIC board and membership will continue to advocate for sensible approaches that protect and enhance Bermuda’s competitiveness and reputation in an era of heightened global competition.
"Our international businesses provide opportunities and rewarding careers across many fields and industries, and we at ABIC intend to ensure that Bermudians continue to benefit from these direct and indirect economic and social contributions.
"I would like to thank Patrick for his contribution to ABIC over a defining decade for insurance and Bermuda as an international business centre.”
Tannock, who recently retired as CEO of AXA XL Insurance Bermuda, was chair of ABIC from 2015, having joined the board in 2008.
ABIC represents the internationally owned businesses which are physically located in Bermuda but conduct their operations worldwide. There are more than 1,500 exempted or international companies currently registered in Bermuda, of which about 400 have a physical presence.
Dunleavy recently represented the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR) and the Association of Bermuda International Companies in a discussion with Bermuda: Re + ILS about Bermuda’s new Corporate Income Tax.
