Convex CEO to speak at AM Best briefing
Convex Group chief executive officer Paul Brand will be the keynote speaker at AM Best’s Insurance Market and Methodology Briefings in November.
Other highlights of the annual briefing include a market briefing on reinsurance market highlights and a panel discussion on the future of underwriting and claims management, with a focus on what artificial intelligence could affect this area.
Brand will deliver the keynote address at 10am at etc.venues St Pauls at 200 Aldersgate in London.
Brand co-founded Bermuda-based Convex in 2019 with chairman Stephen Catlin and has since helped to build into one of the fastest growing property casualty and specialty re/insurers in the market.
The reinsurance market highlights session will be led by senior director, analytics Mathilde Jakobsen and director, analytics Tim Prince and will look at whether pricing discipline will be maintained, the global reinsurance outlook and the impact of alternative capital and ILS on the market.
The panel discussion on underwriting and claims management will ask what AI will bring to the table and will also look at innovation, big data, the impact of insurtech and fraud management. I will be moderated by Richard Banks, director, industry research – EMEA, and will also feature Frank Schmid, chief technology officer of Gen Re.
Other briefings include an EMEA market overview, The Risk Landscape and Stress Testing and Perspectives on Casualty Catastrophes and Emerging Liability, which will look at how interconnected risks create complex challenges, the importance of casualty catastrophe modelling and emerging risks such as PFAs and climate litigation.
The methodology briefing segment in the afternoon will include sessions on benchmarking EMEA ratings, a focus on cyber considerations in the rating process and IFRS 17 – In Action.
