Compre taps Dominic Clayden as interim global claims director
Bermuda-based specialty reinsurer Compre has named Dominic Clayden (pictured) as interim global claims director, bringing legal expertise to bolster its claims management standards.
Clayden will be responsible for the continued development of Compre’s global claims function. All claims teams in the US and Europe will report to him, while he will report to Simon Hawkins, COO.
Under Clayden’s leadership, the global claims function will ensure consistency and best practice across all regions. His expertise and global perspective will help deepen Compre’s technical excellence and he will further introduce innovative measures to continually improve service standards.
Consolidating claims into a single function will also streamline processes, eliminate duplication and optimise technology, ultimately to improve settlement times and continually improve customer satisfaction.
Clayden is a seasoned insurance executive who brings considerable expertise to Compre. As QBE’s group chief claims officer, he was responsible for managing more than $15 billion of reserves across Europe, Lloyd’s, North America and Asia Pacific. He also previously worked for Aviva as general insurance claims director and most recently he served as CEO of the UK Motor Insurance Bureau.
Hawkins said: “Globalising our claims proposition is an exciting developmental step that builds on Compre’s successful growth in recent years. Our reputation rests on fair, consistent and transparent claims handling and I am delighted Dominic could join us to complete this important transition which began in 2023. It very much underpins our ambitions for further growth and to be the partner of choice for innovative capital and liability solutions.
“As part of this evolution, Bill Bouvier, claims director, North America, will be stepping down on October 31, 2025. Bill has been instrumental in building our US claims proposition in recent years, for which we are very grateful and wish him every success in the future.”
