Compre appoints Rachel Bardon as chief underwriting officer

Bermuda-based legacy insurer Compre has appointed Rachel Bardon (pictured) as its new chief underwriting officer to lead business development and drive strategic growth across the group from September 1.

She will report to CEO Will Bridger and join the board of reinsurer Pallas Reinsurance Company. Both roles await regulatory approval.

Compre said Bardon will lead business development across the group, covering new business origination, reinsurance underwriting, transaction execution, and strategic market growth.

With 25 years in insurance and reinsurance, Bardon joins from Hudson Structured Capital Management, where she was partner and chief investment officer (CIO) of insurance credit, and deputy CIO of reinsurance. A qualified actuary, she has experience in underwriting, investing, portfolio management, pricing, reserving, valuations, capital modelling, and risk management.

Bridger said: “I am delighted to welcome Rachel to Compre. Her deep industry experience spans the spectrum of capital and liability solutions for cedants in our market, from prospective to retrospective underwriting. She will also bring a wider investment focus to the business. Her strong commercial background will strengthen Compre’s capability as we continue to seek further growth in our core North American market.”
