Accredited Insurance Program Management has appointed Ariel Re independent director Steven Bensinger to its board of directors.
Accredited, formerly a subsidiary of Bermuda-based R&Q Insurance Holdings and now a subsidiary of Onex, said Bensinger will join the board on December 9 and will serve as chair of the audit committee.
Bensinger has over 45 years of experience in the global insurance industry. He has held senior operating and financial positions at AIG, The Hanover Insurance Group, Combined Specialty Group (then part of Aon), Chartwell Re Corporation, Skandia America Group, and was a Partner in the insurance practice of Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC).
In addition to Ariel, he is currently an independent director on the boards of Kinsale Capital Group, Clearcover Insurance Company and The Doctors Company Group. He also serves as senior advisor at Howden Re.
Steve’s appointment to Accredited’s Board follows the previous appointments of Barbara Bufkin and Patricia Roufca as non-executive directors.
“Steve brings a broad range of insurance expertise as a C-suite executive, board member and advisor,” said William Spiegel, CEO of Accredited. “His experience leading finance functions in both insurance and reinsurance businesses will be of great value to our board and audit committee.
“I am delighted that we have established a high-calibre board which reflects Accredited’s significant ambitions, and I look forward to working with Steve, Barbara and Patricia to capitalize on the opportunities ahead.”
