UK advisory firm BDO has opened an office in Bermuda, appointing a former PwC director Gillian McCann to lead the expansion as it looks to deepen its Caribbean presence and better serve clients with Bermuda-domiciled structures.
McCann steps in as partner to lead the expansion, which has been driven by Bermuda’s jurisdictional importance for international business, particularly in the insurance, reinsurance and asset management sectors.
Prior to joining the BDO in late 2025 to lead this function, McCann spent more than two decades at PwC, most recently as assurance signing director – asset and wealth management, banking and insurance sectors in Bermuda.
BDO Bermuda will provide on-island presence supported by the broader BDO global network and will offer a full suite of services including audit and assurance, tax, and advisory.
Stewardship for the Bermuda office will be provided by James George, managing partner of BDO in the Cayman Islands.
James said: “This is an exciting milestone for BDO and a natural next step in our growth across the Caribbean. Bermuda is a global financial services centre, and establishing a presence here allows us to better support clients with Bermuda-registered entities while strengthening our regional and international capabilities. With Gillian leading the office, we are confident that BDO Bermuda will become a trusted partner to the local market and the wider international business community.”
