Ascot promotes US COO
Ascot has promoted Matt Roy to be US chief operating officer, effective November 18.
Roy will be tasked with aligning underwriting, operations, and technology across the US and designing change initiatives to continue to enhance the company’s operating model, including ensuring the use of common platforms and processes.
He will be based in the Bermuda-based company’s Iselin, New Jersey office, reporting to Elizabeth Johnson, Ascot group chief operating officer.
“Matt has both the skills and knowledge to make him uniquely qualified to excel in this role,” said Johnson. “He is a trusted leader and colleague at Ascot, where he has built an industry-leading E&S casualty business unit, a skilled underwriter with a deep understanding of the insurance market and risk landscape, and an experienced operations professional.”
Roy joined Ascot in 2020 as senior vice president, head of E&S casualty. He has since overseen the team’s expansion to 25 risk professionals and the launch of four products within E&S casualty and has championed and implemented technology solutions across the group.
Prior to joining Ascot, Matt served as assistant vice president, E&S casualty at AXA XL and spent six years at Everest Insurance as northeast regional manager and technical operations leader of wholesale casualty.
He began his career at Crum & Forster first in operations and operations management before transitioning into an underwriting role in their wholesale casualty unit.
