Arch Re promotes trio in leadership reshuffle

Bermuda-based Arch Re has elevated three veterans in a leadership shake-up intended to advance its strategic agenda and global positioning.

William Soares (pictured left) has been named president of Arch Re, with Pierre Jal (pictured centre) stepping up as president of Arch Re Europe and David Seyller (pictured right) promoted to chief underwriting officer (CUO) of Arch Re Europe.

As president of Arch Re, Soares will add to his current role as chief underwriting officer of casualty and specialty. He joined the firm in 2006 and has held several leadership posts, including head of casualty specialty.

Jal will lead its underwriting strategy and oversee reinsurance lines at Arch Syndicate 1955. He joined Arch Re Europe in 2007 and has held senior underwriting roles across the group.

Seyller succeeds Jal as CUO of Arch Re Europe, and will oversee the property and casualty, agriculture, and structured underwriting teams.

Soares and Jal will report to Jerome Halgan, president and CUO of Arch Reinsurance Group, while Seyller reports to Jal.

Halgan said: “William, Pierre and David are all seasoned reinsurance professionals and reflect the depth and quality of our bench of strong leadership at Arch Re. These well-deserved promotions position us to better serve our clients, navigate complex risks and capitalise on future growth opportunities for Arch Re.

“Their deep expertise, strategic insight and unwavering commitment to our clients will be key drivers of our continued success in this evolving market.”

Maamoun Rajeh, president of Arch Capital Group: “The promotions of Pierre, William and David reflect both their exceptional contributions to the sustained growth of Arch Re and our confidence in their ability to continue to capitalise on opportunities as they arise.

“Their leadership will play a critical role in executing our strategy and reinforcing Arch’s position as an industry leader on a global stage.”
