Veteran actuary joins Hamilton underwriting unit

Hamilton Global Specialty has appointed Niamh O’Brien as Chief Actuary after serving the company as an actuarial consultant since 2021. 

“We are thrilled to appoint Niamh to Chief Actuary at Hamilton Global Specialty,” said Group Chief Risk Officer Alex Baker. “Her exceptional skills and extensive experience with our company will significantly enhance our actuarial capabilities and support our strategic objectives.

“The combined talent and leadership of Niamh and Wilfred, along with our dedicated actuarial team, will undoubtedly drive our actuarial function to new heights.”

Hamilton Global is the underwriting platform of Hamilton Insurance Group, written by Syndicate 4000 at Lloyd’s and Hamilton Insurance DAC. O’Brien reports to Wilfred Chin who was recently promoted to Group Chief Actuary at Hamilton.

O’Brien has worked with Hamilton since 2021 leading key actuarial reserving activity and providing advisory support as an actuarial consultant. She brings broad industry experience and knowledge having spent over 20 years in senior actuarial roles, including with Catlin, Hiscox, W. R. Berkley and Tokio Marine Kiln.
