SiriusPoint appoints energy insurance veteran

Bermuda-based SiriusPoint as appointed Xander Butcher to its London Energy Team as senior underwriter - energy liabilities. 

John Hopper, Head of Energy, said: “With over 37 years of experience in the market, Xander will be a brilliant addition to the Energy team. I look forward to seeing him make his mark at SiriusPoint and support the strategic growth of our Energy business line.”

Butcher was previously head of  International Energy Liability at Starr Insurance Companies from 2022 to 2023 and was head of energy liabilities at Canopius Group from 2019 to 2022. he joined Canopius as a result of its merger with AmTrust's Lloyd's syndicate. 

He spent 18 years previously at AIG in a variety of roles.
