Can you start by telling us what inspired your career?
From a young age, I have always been inquisitive with a keen interest in technology, and I wanted to pursue a career that would enable me to leverage this. My career was inspired by a deep curiosity about how technology can solve complex, real-world problems.
Growing up in Bermuda, I naturally gravitated to the re/insurance sector. I saw first hand the importance of how technology and innovation can enable our business to make faster, more informed decisions, which can greatly impact the bottom line.
What elements of your career do you enjoy most and why?
They are those that involve collaboration, problem-solving and technical solutions. Initially, I began as a software engineer, working with driven teams that sought to solve complex problems as efficiently as possible. There is a level of satisfaction that comes from working together on a problem and finally making a breakthrough. Working through these challenges provided insight into the impact of technology on business strategy.
In my current role, I have shifted to a strategy-focused leadership position that offers more opportunities for collaboration and influencing change on a much larger scale. I thrive on collaborating with global teams, solving challenging problems and mentoring colleagues.
Can you share an example of a challenge you overcame that significantly shaped your career trajectory?
One was leading the roll-out of a new pricing and portfolio management system at SiriusPoint. The project required not only technical expertise but also the ability to bring together diverse stakeholders and align them toward a common goal.
Navigating competing priorities and ensuring the solution met both business and technical needs taught me the value of adaptability, clear communication and perseverance. This shaped my approach to leadership and reinforced my commitment to continuous improvement.
What are your career ambitions? And how will you work to achieve them?
While I would say my long-term ambition is to become a technology executive in the re/insurance sector, I recognise there is still much to learn and room for growth.
My current priority is to drive change and work towards our common goal of evolving our organisation’s capabilities by leading the pricing and exposure portfolio with a focus on innovation, operational excellence and talent development.
I aim to continue growing as a leader, expanding my impact within the company and the broader industry. Participating in leadership development programmes and mentoring new talent are key steps I’m taking towards this. I believe fostering a culture of learning and collaboration is essential for long-term success.
How do you stay motivated and continue to learn in such a dynamic sector?
Staying motivated comes naturally when you’re passionate about your work and have a keen interest in what you do. I make it a priority to stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies. As digital technologies, cloud-based platforms and the AI landscape evolve, it is critical to maintain and improve my skill sets to keep up with this fast-paced, ever-changing environment so I can leverage it in my day-to-day job.
