Richard Sammons to lead Syndicate 2006: Ariel Re

Ariel Re has appointed a Richard Sammons (pictured) as active underwriter of Syndicate 2006, following approval from Lloyd’s.

Sammons joins Ariel Re with nearly 30 years of experience across the Lloyd’s and global reinsurance markets, bringing expertise in specialty underwriting, portfolio management and leadership. He has held senior roles at Gallagher Re and Hamilton Re, most recently serving as head of aerospace for Gallagher Re’s UK business.

Prior to that, he spent a decade at Hamilton Re in Bermuda, where he rose to head of specialty and played a key role in building a diversified specialty reinsurance portfolio.

In his new role, he will lead Syndicate 2006, supporting Ariel Re’s focus on underwriting discipline and sustainable returns within its specialty reinsurance syndicate. Syndicate 2006 forms part of Ariel Re’s Lloyd’s platform, alongside Syndicate 1910, and is designed to enhance the group’s ability to deploy capital across property, casualty and specialty reinsurance lines.
