XL Catlin appoints country manager for Hong Kong office

XL Catlin has appointed Jamie Chambers as country manager for its Hong Kong office.

In his new role, Chambers will be responsible for driving XL Catlin’s insurance business and market presence in Hong Kong. He takes on this new role in addition to his position as regional product leader, aerospace-insurance, for its Asia-Pacific office.

“Hong Kong is home to many mid-sized businesses as well as large multinational companies who also chose it as their Asia Pacific base,” said Craig Langham, chief executive officer, Asia-Pacific, for XL Catlin’s insurance business.

“It is also a highly attractive market for foreign direct investment (FDI), according to this year’s UNCTAD World Investment Report, global FDI inflows to Hong Kong amounted to $175 billion in 2015, behind only the US. Our insurance operations provide these companies as well as the local firms with innovative solutions to their risks so that they can focus on growing their business.”

Chambers has over 14 years’ experience in the insurance industry. He joined XL Catlin in 2005 and played a vital role in establishing and developing the aviation portfolio which includes General Aviation, Airline and Products risks in the Asia Pacific region.

In his earlier career, Chambers worked at Ortac Underwriting Agency in the United Kingdom as an Aviation Underwriter.

Langham added: “Having the best talent in the right place is key to us achieving our ambition in this important market, and Jamie’s appointment to country manager reflects this.”
