Sompo expands global casualty team
Sompo International has announced that it is expanding its presence in the global casualty market with the appointment of Alison Wood and Lorene Phillips to the firm’s global casualty reinsurance team in London.
Wood will be senior vice president and Phillips international casualty underwriter. Both positions report to Mike Fokken, executive vice president, head of international casualty & professional lines reinsurance.
Alison Wood brings over 30 years of experience to her new position. She was most recently with ArgoGlobal Syndicate 1200 where she focused on general liability classes including cyber, crime and medical malpractice and motor, and serviced a broad International client base including the UK, Ireland, Continental Europe, Canada, Asia, the Middle East, South America and India.
Prior to Argo, she spent 12 years with Gen Re as a senior vice president & practice leader after earlier underwriting roles in the both the life and non-life insurance space and as a buyer of global casualty reinsurance for RSA. She holds both chartered insurance risk manager and ACII designations.
Phillips has more than 20 years of insurance and reinsurance industry experience and joins Sompo International from AWAC where she spent 15 years working in both Bermuda and more recently in London responsible for the casualty facultative & international treaty portfolio. In this role, she built-out their European portfolio which was predominantly focused on D&O, EL and miscellaneous E&O. She began her career with XL Catlin where she worked with both the underwriting and claims teams for 9 years. She holds both ACII and SCLA designations.
