Sompo Canopius expands credit & political risk team

Sompo Canopius, which has a significant presence on Bermuda, has announced the appointment of Bruce Shepherd as credit and political risk analyst.  He will head the credit analysis function in the group’s credit, political and crisis division.

Shepherd joins from QBE and according to Sompo Canopius is an experienced credit analyst with a specialisation in complex, structured credit risk in industrialised and emerging markets, as well as an underwriting background.  He will report to Bernie de Haldevang.

“Bruce will be a great asset to the team and, most importantly, to the brokers we work with; many will know him personally or by reputation,” said de Haldevang.

“We’ve been investing in underwriting capability recently to boost our firepower across the credit, political and crisis division and Bruce will provide invaluable expertise to support this.  He brings with him a deep knowledge of the broader field of credit and associated political risk analysis.”
