MS Amlin strengthens executive team

MS Amlin has announced the appointment of two senior members to its executive team.

Simon Smith will join the company as chief operating officer in July. He was previously at Willis Towers Watson (WTW), where he held senior operations roles for over ten years. As chief executive officer of its Global Solutions & Delivery, he led a team of 3500 employees, delivering an operational improvement programme.  Prior to that, Smith was chief operating officer of WTW Asia Pacific.

Vivian Leinster has been appointed to the role of chief people officer and will be responsible for MS Amlin’s human resources function. She was previously at Bupa UK where she was people director since 2014. She was responsible for the people, cultural and change agenda across Bupa’s UK business and has a strong track record in driving transformation in businesses. She brings over twenty years of experience in human resources

The formation of the new leadership team comes shortly after Simon Beale became chief executive officer, with James Illingworth becoming chief underwriting officer and Martyn Rodden chief risk officer. The company said that the new appointments strengthen the senior leadership under Beale, as he repositions the business for the long term.

Beale said: “I am delighted to welcome Simon and Vivian to MS Amlin. The hires demonstrate our ability to attract leading industry talent and their wealth of experience and proven ability in successfully implementing change will be invaluable as we embark on an exciting new chapter in our history.

“I am confident they will both make a significant contribution to the programme of initiatives underway as we build a modern, relevant business with a sustainable and profitable long-term future. I look forward to working with them both as we move forward with our plans for MS Amlin.”
