Mosaic hires war and terrorism specialist

Global specialty startup insurer Mosaic continues building out its team with the appointment of Adam McGrath to the new role of senior vice president and head of international war & terrorism, political violence.

Based in London, McGrath will be responsible for developing its global book of business and complementing work by the division’s North American team. He will also represent Mosaic as a member of the Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) panel on political violence.

McGrath joins from AXA XL, where he was a senior crisis management and special risks underwriter and spent eight years expanding its political violence line. Before that, he was with Hiscox and has served as a broker for Aon’s crisis-management division focused on terrorism.

“We are delighted to welcome Adam to Mosaic and our underwriting team,” said Quentin Prebble, Chairman, War & Terrorism, Political Violence at Mosaic. “He brings extensive market experience as both a senior broker and leading underwriter and has very strong relationships in the broking fraternity and among clients, so he is a valuable addition to our division.”

The private-equity backed insurer recently celebrated six months since its launch. Political violence is one of six lines of specialty business the company currently writes in markets worldwide.
