Hamilton Re appoints SVP, risk & analytics

Bermuda-based re/insurer Hamilton Re has appointed Hanni Ali as senior vice president, risk and analytics.

Ali joined Hamilton Re in July 2014, and started off as assistant vice president, and worked his way up to vice president, risk and analytics.

Prior to Hamilton Re, Ali as assistant vice president, catastrophe risk model developer at Allied World Assurance, also based in Bermuda. Before that, he was a quantitative catastrophe risk analyst and model developer at Montpelier Re Holdings.

While at Montpelier Re, he was involved in the establishment of Montpelier’s Lloyd’s Syndicate 5151 and associated Managing Agent, supporting underwriting and risk management of binders, treaty, retro, direct and facultative business.

Ali will lead the risk and analytics function at Hamilton Re, and oversee a team of catastrophe modellers and data scientists. He will be responsible for providing the portfolio reporting for Hamilton’s management, board, regulators, market bodies and rating agencies.

In particular, Ali directs the development of Hamilton Risk & Analytics Platform (HARP), a proprietary, comprehensive reinsurance system used across Hamilton to provide high performance stochastic pricing and portfolio calculations.

“This is a well-deserved, well-earned promotion,” said Hamilton Re CEO Kathleen Reardon. “At Hamilton, we’ve set an aspirational mission: we’re writing the future of risk. Hanni’s commitment to our mission and his impressive work in this regard have been, and will continue to be, key contributors to our success.”
