Founding partner of Stone Point Capital joins Everest Re board

Meryl Hartzband, a founding partner of private equity firm Stone Point Capital, has joined Bermuda-based Everest Re’s board of directors.

Hartzband will serve as a member of Everest Re’s audit, compensation and nominating & governance committees.

She served as Stone Point Capital’s chief investment officer from 1999 to 2015. Prior to that, she was a managing director at JP Morgan & Co, specialising in private equity investments in the financial services industry.

“I am very pleased to welcome Meryl to the Everest board of directors,” said Joseph Taranto, chairman. “Her knowledge of the insurance and reinsurance industry combined with her financial and investment expertise will be a valuable addition to our board.”

Hartzband also serves on the board of directors for Greenhill & Co, and Conning Holdings. She has also served as a director on the boards of The Navigators Group, Travelers Property Casualty Corp, AXIS Capital Holdings, ACE, and numerous portfolio companies of Stone Point.
