Everest Re hires AIG exec for reinsurance role

Everest Re, the Bermuda-based company, has named Sean Berry as vice president and head of the reinsurance division’s international property facultative unit.

Berry will be based in Everest Re’s Miami Office and will be responsible for worldwide property facultative underwriting, excluding business written out of Canada.

He joins Everest with more than 25 years of industry experience, most recently as regional vice president with AIG in Latin America. Berry had previously headed up the property underwriting practice for AIG and General Reinsurance Company in the Far East.

“We are excited to have someone with Sean’s background joining us in this role,” said Ron Diaz, senior vice president and head of international. “His skills and extensive experience are a welcome addition to the team.”

He added: “Together with Bill Breslin, head of our international casualty facultative practice, we are steadily expanding our ability to better serve our client needs in the facultative space.”

John Doucette, president and chief executive officer of the reinsurance division, commented: “We are pleased to have a leader of Sean’s calibre join the reinsurance division. His addition underlines our commitment to the facultative reinsurance market.”
