Everest appoints new CEO of Canadian subsidiary

Everest Re Group has announced that Darin Scanzano will join Everest Insurance as the newly appointed chief executive officer (CEO) of Everest Insurance Company of Canada.

Scanzano will be based in the company’s Toronto, Canada, office and will report to David Sandler, head of the Everest Insurance Risk Management Group.

“We are excited to have Darin join as CEO of Everest Insurance Company of Canada,” said Sandler. “His depth of experience in the Canadian market, and deep trading relationships developed over his thirty year career in the industry, will help us to continue expanding our Canadian insurance operation.”

“Darin’s reputation, market relationships, and knowledge will prove additive to the overall Everest Insurance value proposition,” said Jonathan Zaffino, chairman of the Board of Everest Insurance Company of Canada, and president and CEO of Everest Insurance. “We will look to build upon our strong presence in the Canadian marketplace and our deep bench of specialty insurance products, and are confident Darin will help us grow from a position of strength with our trading partners and insureds.”

Prior to joining Everest, Scanzano held the role of executive vice president and chief agent for Axis Capital in Toronto, where he was responsible for all Canadian insurance operations, including underwriting, claims, and finance, while serving as senior member of Axis’ Executive Management Group for North America.
