Compre appoints veteran insurers to board

Legacy re/insurer Compre has appointed Strategic Risk Solutions Bermuda managing director Jonathan Reiss as a director, along with former president of Lloyd’s North America LoriAnn Lowery Biggars.

Bermuda-based Compre said the appointments will help the company as it continues to build its presence in the North American legacy market.

Reiss has more than 30 years of insurance industry experience and is responsible for re/insurance business development at SRS Bermuda. He joined SRS from Hamilton Insurance Group where he served most recently as president of strategic partnerships, having joined the company as chief financial officer in 2013.

Prior to this, he was a partner at EY, leading its Bermuda, Bahamas and Cayman insurance practices.

Lowery Biggers has more than 25 years of experience in the global finance and insurance industries. In addition to her role at Lloyd’s of London she held various executive roles at The Navigators Group, serving as president of its commercial insurance company, president of field operations and chief marketing officer.

She is also lead independent director of Brown & Riding Insurance Group, a non-executive director of BMS Investment Holding Company and BMS Re, and Copper Point Mutual Holding Company.

Compre Group CEO, Will Bridger said: “I am delighted to welcome LoriAnn and Jonathan to Compre’s board, joining our chairman, Emmanuel Clarke and independent non-executive director, Anup Seth, and further strengthening Compre’s governance.

“They both bring deep commercial and technical insurance experience and knowledge, which will be extremely valuable to Compre as we continue to grow and capitalise on the opportunities present in retrospective reinsurance, notably in North America. I look forward to working with them.”
