Blue Capital merges insurance and investment management business

Blue Capital Management, the subsidiary of Bermuda-based Montpelier Re, has merged its insurance and investment management entities into one business.

Among other things, Blue Capital acts as the insurance manager and insurance agent to Blue Water Re Ltd., through which the company indirectly invests a significant proportion of its assets.

Blue Capital Management Ltd. (BCML) continues to act as the investment manager for the Blue Capital Global Reinsurance Fund and other initiatives. BCML will also act as the insurance manager and insurance agent to Blue Water Re Ltd. instead of, and on the same terms as, BCIML.

Upon the merger becoming effective, Blue Capital will be registered as an investment adviser with the US Securities and Exchange Commission and shall be registered as an insurance manager and insurance agent under the Bermuda Insurance Act 1978.
