Aspen appoints two global heads

The insurance segment of Aspen Insurance Holdings, Aspen Insurance, has appointed Mike Toppi as global head of surety risk and Paul Sanders as global head of credit and political risk.

The appointments of Toppi and Sanders are part of Aspen Insurance’s strategy to leverage its global platform and better align product capabilities and distribution. They will both report to David Cohen, president and chief underwriting officer, Aspen Insurance.

Toppi previously worked as Aspen’s executive vice president (VP), chief surety lines underwriter. He has 25 years of experience in the surety business and started his career at Aetna Casualty & Surety Company. He also spent five years at The Hartford Insurance Group and has held a senior role at Travelers.

Sanders joined Aspen in September 2014 as head of credit and political risk. He previously worked as VP and regional manager UK at Zurich where he was responsible for managing the London market portfolio of political risk and credit business. He has also held a senior political risk broker role at Marsh / Sedgwick.
