Ariel Re welcomes new group of summer interns
Ariel Re has welcomed a new group of summer interns in its Bermuda office.
Six Bermudian students are learning more about the global reinsurance industry this summer as part of the Ariel Re internship programme which is now in its third year.
The students (pictured) are Giovanni Hollis, Alison Hyland, Kieran Malott, Emma Stegmann, Sophia Stevens and Lauren Way.
The interns will learn about a variety of roles within the sector, including operations and finance, catastrophe modelling, underwriting, claims and actuarial science. Some were able to travel to the UK to experience working in the London office.
Ariel said; “As well as learning how individual departments work and attending daily meetings, the interns have been tasked with several projects, one of which was to review the Ariel Re website and making a proposal for how this could be redeveloped.
“Ariel Re has a strong commitment to developing the next generation of reinsurance talent right here in Bermuda,” Human Resources head Lindsay Hyland said. ‘When we redeveloped our culture in 2021, we said that we wanted to be known as an ‘academy firm’ - a place where the best in the industry work and come to enhance their knowledge and careers.
“I am delighted that we are able to meet this commitment and offer opportunities to young Bermudians seeking a career in reinsurance. Our hope is that some of our interns will eventually join us permanently and help fulfil our vision of being the premier manager of reinsurance risk.”
