ArgoGlobal names cargo underwriter

Lloyd’s insurer ArgoGlobal, a subsidiary of the Bermuda-based Argo Group, has appointed Darren Long as cargo underwriter, effective immediately.

Based in London, Long will report to Jon Hamilton, cargo class underwriter.

Long has over 20 years of experience in underwriting, having most recently served as cargo class underwriter from Chubb Syndicate 1882. Prior to this, he served as a development underwriter for CAN Europe.

In 1990, he began his insurance career as a claims technician for Lonham Claims & Recoveries Bureau.

Hamilton commented: “I am delighted to welcome Darren to our growing cargo team. He has an exceptional technical understanding of this sector and a network of close broker relationships, which will be invaluable in achieving our ambitions for this class.

“We have set ambitious targets, however, by continuing to recruit underwriters of Darren’s calibre to complement our existing expertise, I am confident that we will realise our goals.”
