Argo adds two independent directors Liss and Latham to board

Specialty re/insurer Argo Group has expanded its board with the appointment of two new independent directors, Samuel Liss and Tony Latham.

Liss serves as managing principal at advisory firm WhiteGate Partners, a position he has held since 2010. He was also executive vice president of strategic development of The Travelers Companies. He is also on the board of directors for Verisk Analytics.

Latham has over 40 years of experience in the insurance industry, and has served as an independent director of the board of Argo Managing Agency since 2016.

He was as director of Pool Re for over 20 years, and chairman for over 12. He has also held director roles at Codan A/S, Ecclesiastical Insurance, Airclaims, Flagstone Re and British Aviation Insurance.

“We are pleased to welcome Sam and Tony to the board,” said Argo Group chairman Gary Woods. “The nominating committee regularly evaluates the make-up of the board, determining opportunities for refreshment and reviewing succession plans. Our objective is to ensure we consistently have the right blend of expertise and to provide strong, independent oversight."

Argo Group's board has added five new independent directors in the past two years.
