Mosaic bolsters finpro team with trio of underwriting talent

Mosaic Insurance has expanded its financial institutions and professional liability (finpro) underwriting team with three US hires, appointing John Soular as senior vice president as the insurer grows its North American platform.

John Soular (pictured left) has joined in New York as senior vice president, miscellaneous professional liability. He brings more than 20 years of experience in professional lines and cyber underwriting and previously led the professional liability group at Liberty Mutual / Ironshore

Michael Rossiter (pictured centre) has joined in Chicago as assistant vice president, financial institutions, focusing on building the company’s US financial institutions portfolio and expanding its broker network. He previously worked on the financial institutions underwriting team at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance and held a regulatory role at FINRA.

Katy Heatherton (pictured right) has joined in Los Angeles as assistant vice president, financial institutions, overseeing the US western region. She previously held underwriting roles at CNA and Nationwide.

Toby Smith, Mosaic CEO of Americas, said: “By investing in senior leadership and selectively adding depth across these lines, we’re building a scalable platform to meet volatile market conditions. This approach reflects our broader strategy in the Americas: deliberate expansion, top-tier talent, and solutions aligned with the evolving risk environment our clients are navigating.”

Sachin Warty, global head of FinPro, added: “Across the finpro landscape, we’re seeing increased regulatory scrutiny, higher litigation frequency, and more complex balance-sheet and governance pressures. Bringing in seasoned underwriters like John, Mike, and Katy significantly strengthens our Americas platform as part of our global capability and gives us the depth and technical strength to address complexity with confidence.”
