James River names Lisa Binnie CEO as William Bowman prepares to exit

Bermuda-based specialty re/insurer James River has appointed insider Lisa Binnie as president and CEO of its specialty admitted insurance unit, succeeding William Bowman, who will retire at the end of September after a two-year tenure.

Binnie succeeds Bowman (pictured) ahead of his departure to allow a smooth transition, James River said.

Bowman, who joined James River in 2019, became president and CEO of the specialty admitted insurance arm in 2023. Before James River, he held marketing and product management roles at Farmers, Bankers Financial, and Integon.

Binnie joined James River in 2018 as a senior vice president for risk management after a 12-year tenure at The Hanover Insurance Group.
