Hiscox appoints Adam Bass as head of marine and aviation treaty

Hiscox has appointed Adam Bass as head of marine and aviation treaty, with the long-serving underwriter set to succeed Guy Ellis following his retirement later this year and lead the reinsurer's global marine and aviation treaty portfolio.

Bass joined Hiscox in 2006 and has spent the past 16 years on the marine and aviation treaty team. He currently serves as marine treaty underwriter, having previously worked as a fine art and specie underwriter.

Announcing the appointment, Bass said he was honoured to take over responsibility for the portfolio.

He said: “Guy has been a recognised market leader in his field, a mentor, colleague and friend throughout my career at Hiscox, and it is a genuine privilege to step up to manage the portfolio that we have built together over so many years.

“I joined Hiscox in 2006 and have spent the last 16 years on the Marine and Aviation Treaty team. During that time I've had the pleasure of working alongside some of the most talented underwriters, brokers and cedents in the market and I look forward to building on the strong foundations Guy and the wider team have put in place.”
