Bermuda:Re+ILS kicks off Talent Month
Bermuda:Re+ILS today launches its first Talent Month, which aims to dig deep into how companies attract and keep the employees who help them and the wider industry to succeed in an ever more competitive world.
We are also pleased to reveal our first Rising Stars for 2024 - the next generation of leaders of Bermuda's re/insurance sector.
Also featured in Talent Month will be stories on our survey on talent, profiles of successful individuals in the business and how the regulator the Bermuda Monetary Authority looks at talent.
Today we also profile former soldier and Hiscox Re & ILS senior underwriter Marlon Williams, who describes how he uses lessons from the military to help lead in re/insurance.
We are profiling three rising stars today and will continue to feature more throughout the month.
Nominated by their colleagues in the industry, these young risk transfer industry professionals show that there is a healthy pipeline of young executives pushing forward to lead the next generation of insurance.
More than a dozen promising executives will be featured through Bermuda:Re+ILS’s Talent Month in April.
The nominees were asked the same series of questions:
"Give us a snapshot of your career to date.
How did you come to choose a career in re/insurance?
What makes the re/insurance industry attractive to young professionals?
What are the opportunities and challenges you’ve faced?
Was there someone who inspired you or acted as a mentor in your career?
What differences does your generation bring to the industry?
Is the industry welcoming to younger people?
What are your career goals?
If you had chosen a different career, what would it have been?"
What is striking about the nominees is how they came to the industry through a variety of different routes, represent different businesses like property and casualty re/insurers, life re/insurers, brokers, digital insurers and more.
Many assert that their generation brings value to the industry through their openness to innovation and their natural ability as digital natives to use technology to improve performance and to their recognition that re/insurance serves a vital purpose around the world and can be a force for good.
We hope you will keep coming back all month for more news on how re/insurance makes talent count!
