
ABIR celebrates Bermuda’s 2025/2026 trailblazers
The Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR) recently hosted a reception to recognise newly appointed and promoted C-suite executives from Bermuda’s international re/insurance sector.
Held at O’Hara House in Hamilton, the event highlighted a number of leadership changes taking effect in 2025 and 2026, reflecting the ongoing evolution and significance of the industry within the island’s economy.
Among the executive appointments and promotions, effective in 2025 and 2026, marked at the event were:
· Jennifer Wilson, appointed CEO, Lancashire
· Adrian Daws, appointed CEO, Hamilton Re
· Neil Eckert, appointed CEO, Conduit Re
· William Randolph, appointed chief risk officer, Conduit Re
· Tim Duffin, promoted to group chief underwriting officer, Hamilton Insurance Group
· Susan Steinhoff, appointed chief underwriting officer, Hamilton Re
· Russ Buckley, appointed group chief risk officer, Hamilton Insurance Group, and chief risk officer, Hamilton Re
· Raymond Karrenbauer, appointed chief investment officer, Hamilton Re
· Rhonda Hasell, appointed chief financial officer, Hannover Re
· Phil Enan, appointed chief strategy and corporate development officer, SiriusPoint
· Andrew Pryde, appointed group chief risk officer, SiriusPoint
· Martin Hudson, appointed board director, SiriusPoint
· Maria Tarhanidis, appointed chief investment officer, SiriusPoint
These appointments come as global demand for Bermuda’s risk expertise and capital continues to grow. ABIR member companies wrote gross premium of over $188 billion in 2024, the highest figure recorded by ABIR’s annual global underwriting report, which surveyed 25 of the group’s 33 members.
The industry continues to lead the Bermuda economy. In 2024, ABIR members’ contribution to the island’s economy was a record $1.21 billion, representing on-island spending in areas including employment, business services, real estate and construction, travel, hospitality and charitable donations. The group also employed a record number of 1,472 Bermudians, spouses of Bermudians, or permanent resident certificate holders (PRCs), nearly 70% of its workforce.
