EPIC Re builds up its healthcare team

EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants, a retail property and casualty insurance brokerage and employee benefits consultant, has made a number of appointments as it builds its headcount in reinsurance as part of its health plan reinsurance advisory strategy.

Alex Soria, Tony Rodriguez, Randy Baker and Ken Knopp spent nearly 20 years together as RBS Re and Cardinal Point. They bring exceptional knowledge of managed care reinsurance products and solutions for health maintenance organisations, health plans and provider organizations, EPIC said.

Peter Robinson, managing principal of EPIC Re, which operated as Integro Re until EPIC's acquisition of the US operations of Integro in January, said he had known and respected the incoming team for many years.

Meanwhile Steve Denton, president of EPIC Holdings, said: "The healthcare industry has become increasingly complex and challenging and our new colleagues will compliment and further expand EPIC Re's existing strength in analytics and risk mitigation.”

Rodriguez pointed to the "extraordinary, complementary portfolio of products and services” at EPIC Re. which he said had made it “an easy decision” to join EPIC Re.

The hires follow the addition of senior vice president and principal Blake Kirk in San Francisco in January.
