Bittrex promotes CFO to the top job as CEO steps down

Tom Albright is stepping down from his role as chief executive officer (CEO) of both Bittrex Global and Bittrex Global Bermuda, the cryptocurrency trading platforms and digital wallet providers.

Stephen Stonberg, the chief financial officer (CFO) and chief operating officer(COO) of Bittrex Global, has been appointed to serve as interim CEO, to oversee management of both companies.

Stonberg has served as CFO and COO since February 2019. He has over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector, having held roles at Goldman Sachs, Winton Group and Credit Suisse Asset Management.

Bill Shihara, Bittrex’s co-founder, said: “As more retail and institutional investment enters the cryptocurrency market, individuals like Stephen will be instrumental in bridging the gap between traditional finance and the cryptocurrency world.”

Stonberg said: “Our new offerings such as tokenised securities (through Bittrex Global Bermuda) are revolutionising the crypto market. We have many more exciting opportunities on the horizon.”
