Sompo taps Co-Operative Group and QBE for key North American appointments
Bermuda-based Sompo International has made two appointments as it moves to expand in North America.
The re/insurer appointed veteran actuary Apundeep Lamba as head of reinsurance in Canada. He will be based in Toronto as part of the Canada branch.
The company also appointed Denise Sheehan as senior vice president, head of North America accident & health reinsurance. She will be based in Garden City, New York.

Mr. Lamba joins from The Co-operators Group Limited, where he was responsible for the company’s corporate actuarial and reinsurance services function. He brings diverse experience across corporate actuarial, underwriting, reserving, and pricing he developed while at leading re/insurance companies including Swiss Re serving the Canadian market.
Lamba is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
Sheehan most recently served as vice president, special risk accident leader – accident health for QBE North America, where during her 23-year tenure, she led several A&H (re)insurance teams & programme portfolios.
Throughout her career, Sheehan has held various roles of responsibility within the industry. She holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter and Associate in Reinsurance designations.
